The Garage at Number Six

Pinot Pepper sat on the kitchen window ledge staring miserably at the rain soaked back garden. For the last hour he had been watching the rain drops race each other down the window pane and gather in a large puddle on the ledge below. Another few minutes passed before he began to tire of watching the rain drops and decided to see if the weather was as bad at the front of the house as it was at the back. He jumped off the ledge and made his way into the dinning room where he knew he would have a perfect view of the front garden and the street beyond.

The Rescue of Mungo Marfont (part one)

Mungo was tired, very tired, he had just finished a double shift at the acorn factory and was looking forward to getting home and putting his little feet up. Mungo lived with his wife Moira, and his daughter Maisie, in a lovely little nest he had built when he had first got his new job. They had originally lived in the centre of a noisy, dirty town, but thanks to Mungo’s new position in the factory, they had been given the chance to relocate and create a new home in this beautiful little village.

The Rescue of Mungo Marfont (Part Two)

It was 7:30 in the morning and almost 24 hours since Mungo Marfont’s unfortunate encounter with Karacus, a large, hungry, bird of prey. Karacus was a visitor to the village and had flown in to stay with his friends for the Christmas holidays. Unfortunately for Mungo, just as he had been on his way home from work, Karacus had begun his hunt for breakfast to keep him going on his long journey home. Spotting little Mungo crossing the lawn below him, Karacus had swooped ..

An Early Snowfall

Pinot awoke with a start and looked around the bedroom sleepily, not sure what had woken him. He glanced towards his humans, no, it certainly wasn’t them, as they were both still fast asleep. He looked over towards Grigio’s rug, no, it can’t have been Grigio either as she was still curled up, snoring gently as usual. Pinot crept up the duvet to get a look at his human’s bedside clock, the little blue numbers on the display told him it was 3 o’clock in the morning.

About the author

Julia lives in Buckinghamshire, with her now famous cat, called Pinot, his sister Greedy Grigio, and her husband Quentin.

Not having any children of her own she wanted to become a story teller to many, and so her debut children’s story ‘The Day Pinot Pepper Turned Blue’ was born. The story is lighthearted and fun but carries a sensible message for its young readers. Julia’s main aim through her books and through her Pinot Pepper Stories page, is to make her readers smile. Daily life can be all to serious at times and Julia wanted to provide a little lighthearted relief from the every day pressures we all feel from time to time.

Julia has first hand experience of how coping with extreme feelings can sometimes seem overwhelming, especially as a child.
“Writing the book and the Pinot Pepper short stories has really helped me focus on what I love doing and has helped me through a very difficult couple of years,” explains Julia. “Life gets tough for us all at times and we all need something we can turn to, to help us relax and unwind, writing the Pinot Pepper stories is my way of unwinding.”

Julia is busy arranging author visits into schools, libraries and clubs so if your organisation would like to receive a visit then please use the email address below to contact Julia directly. More information can also be found on the ‘Events, Reviews and Media‘ page, you will find the link at the bottom of the page.
